01Does it need an account?
No. The DS 1 serves a small HTTP API on your network: send its address a line of text and it shows it. An Aldous account only adds feeds from outside your network, such as a deploy tool in the cloud.
02What can the sign show?
Two lines of about ten characters, a sparkline or bars, and a few symbols: a tick, a cross, a warning. Longer messages scroll, and pushing the knob holds them still.
03Why only one colour?
The LEDs are one colour, chosen when you order, so the sign means one thing. Most teams pick red for a board that should stay dark, and green for one that reports good news.
04Can it make a noise?
A short chime when a feed turns red. It is off until you turn it on, and one push of the knob hushes it for an hour.
05What if our Wi-Fi goes down?
The sign keeps the last message and the lamp blinks slowly. With the PoE option it can run from a network cable instead.
