.tui-grilleclassmin-height 48pxPerforated metal: 7px pitch, each hole a dark core with a lit lower lip, the whole sheet recessed.
.tui-clothclassmin-height 48pxWoven speaker cloth. The same dark weave in both finishes, as cloth would be.

Needs kit.css only, no script. How to install the kit.

05

Accessibility

  • Always aria-hidden="true": it is texture, not content.
  • Never put text on it: the holes fight every letter.
06

How it’s built

The grille is one radial-gradient tiled every 7px (a 1.1px dark hole, then a ring of --tui-hl for the lit lower lip) over --tui-face-lo, recessed with the kit’s inset light. The cloth is two repeating linear gradients, weft and warp, over a fixed dark grey: it does not follow the finish, because speaker cloth does not change colour with the plate around it. No images.

Rules

grille.rules.mdIn the brain

Only where a device would breathe or sound, and never behind text.

3 rules in this file, with the foundations they rest on and the anti-patterns that break them. Full rules ship in the brain with the Pass.

Output

Panel

A face plate that groups what belongs together: a head, a rule, then the parts. Screws only on device-like panels.

Lamp

The only colour in the kit: a lamp that is on. Green is on, amber is waiting, red is recording or failing, blue is linked, white is standing by. Always next to words.

Readout

A printed label over a value: key figures, with the unit small and the change in words.
